Short answer
For a spouse visa from Pakistan, the German Embassy accepts an A1 certificate from the Goethe-Institut, ÖSD, telc or TestDaF. The embassy treats them the same, so no certificate is "better" for your visa. Choose the exam you can actually book: in Pakistan, that is usually the Goethe-Zertifikat A1, offered in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. Whichever you choose, the certificate must be no older than one year on the day you apply.
What the embassy accepts
The German Embassy in Islamabad asks for proof of A1 German that meets the standards of ALTE (the Association of Language Testers in Europe). It names four accepted providers: the Goethe-Institut, ÖSD, telc and TestDaF.
All four describe A1 in the same way, because they all use the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). An A1 pass from any of them proves the same level.

Is one exam easier?
There is no official ranking. Every A1 exam tests the same four skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking. The task types and timing differ a little between providers, so the exam that feels easiest is the one you have practised.

How to choose
- Dates: pick the exam whose date fits your visa timeline. The certificate must be under one year old when you apply.
- Location: choose a centre you can reach on exam day, with your original passport.
- Booking: Goethe A1 seats in Pakistan are limited and go quickly on booking day, so have a second option ready.
- Format: once you choose, practise that provider's mock exams.
